Ribbon Cutting at 1861 Wine Lounge

One of Bluffton, OH’s most anticipated additions, the 1861 Wine Lounge, is open! On Saturday, August 19, at 11:00 AM a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to officially welcome a new business to our community.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Bluffton, the 1861 Wine Lounge is set to captivate patrons with an impressive selection of wines, select bourbons featuring Horse Soldier Bourbon, and an assortment of domestic and craft beers. The ambiance of the lounge is designed to offer a serene and inviting escape, embodying the true essence of a lounge experience.

The founders, Mike Burris and Mary Burris, extend a warm welcome to all to join us for this long-awaited event. As avid supporters of Bluffton’s downtown, they envisioned the 1861 Wine Lounge as more than just an establishment: it’s a testament to the town’s character.

As an embodiment of their commitment to community enrichment, the 1861 Wine Lounge features a unique element known as the “Giving Wall.” This wall stands as a symbol of unity, enabling patrons to contribute to local charitable initiatives. Each donation visibly demonstrates the power of collective goodwill.

Ribbon Cutting at Jacomet’s Martial Arts

A ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held at Jacomet’s Martial Arts Dojo, 121 S. Main Street (lower level) on July 28, 2023.

The business, which is owned by Tony Jacomet, runs its core program, Gen Yuan Kempo, September through May with multiple classes that group students by age and skill level–from ages as young as 5 through adults.

There is also an age 7-adult family/group evening class, offering busy families an alternative time slot, and an opportunity for parents to train alongside their children.

This year the program is expanding to offer teen/adult classes in Tai Chi, Jiu Jitsu and Yoga.

Classes offer detailed instruction with an emphasis on safe training and learning practical skills.

We are thrilled to have Jacomet’s Martial Arts in our community.  Their dedication to helping both kids and adults experience the martial arts fits well with our mission of supporting local businesses and promoting a healthy lifestyle in our community.
